CASWSS visited Prince of Peace Children’s Home and Children Rehabilitation Center on Children’s Day

In the morning of June 1, CASWSS Party branch organized all its Party members and cadres visited orphans and disabled children and the staff at Prince of Peace Children’s Home and Children Rehabilitation Center in Wuqing, Tianjin. This activity belongs to Party Building Studies raised by General Office of the Communist Party of China, and was proved to be effective after a research and discussion by going down to the basic units.

Prince of Peace Children’s Home and Children Rehabilitation Center is founded by Prince of Peace Foundation and World Vision, member of CASWSS. As a People-run non-enterprise unit, it’s the only children’s home founded by local civil administration authorities and international social organization in China. As a member of CASWSS, it adopted nearly 300 orphans and disabled children. At present a system including nursing care, healthcare, rehabilitation, education for children with special needs has been established. Besides, it has extended its service function to the community by providing education and rehabilitation service for all children in difficult circumstances and children with disability. Prince of Peace Children’s Home and Children Rehabilitation Center has been awarded by Ministry of Civil Affairs and State of overseas department, with a team including doctors, teachers, nutritionists, social workers, psychological counselors, rehabilitation trainers, language trainers, infantile autism appraisers and other staff. Chen Meiwen, director of this children’s home has been awarded with many honorary titles such as Chinese Patriotic Philanthropist, Top Ten good mothers in Tianjin, Moral Model in Tianjin and Outstanding Communist Party Member. 

Accompanied by Liu Gang, deputy-director of Civil Affairs Bureau in Wuqing District, Tianjin, all CASWSS Party members and cadres joined Children’s Day Celebration with all children, staff and some company representatives which have donated for the children’s home. After showing program, Ms Feng Xiaoli, President of CASWSS sent best wishes for all the children and staff.

After that, led by Director Chen Meiwen, all CASWSS staff visited the children’s home and listened to her introduction. During the visit, they saw it is fully-equipped with good service facilities and has complete service process. In beautiful, comfortable surroundings, teachers and nurses were doing rehabilitation trainings for children with cerebral palsy or disabilities. They are deeply moved seeing these kids living a happy life with meticulous care from all Children’s Home staff.

In the afternoon, the Party members and cadres of CASWSS held a study and education discussion meeting. At the meeting, people talked about their thoughts and feelings. One person said that after today’s activity, he learned a lot from Dean Chen and was motivated to dedicate into social welfare work.

Another people said, “Today’s activity make us feel young and passionate, and we are proud as a social welfare worker because I witness how these unfortunate kids being cared and raised so well with the efforts of government and staff at the Children’s Home. I am motivated and will work with passion to make contributions to the society in the future.” Some people said that they were shocked today and will learn from these staff and dedicate himself to be a good colleague with perseverance.

In Ms Feng’s concluding remarks, she said, “Today’s activity is meaningful. First, through today’s study and research, we get a better grasp of the significance of our association’s mission, i.e. organizing social power into social welfare service and promote  equality, justice and social harmony and progress. Second, knowing the hardship and dedication of social welfare work by going down to the grassroots inspires us overcoming difficulties and working hard. Third, taking them as models, we shall practice the party’s mission and take responsibility, makes more contributions to social welfare by firming our belief and strengthening cohesion and innovation.

This activity gains remarkable results in vivid form and rich content.
