The Opening Ceremony of the 10th China International Senior Services Expo was Successfully Held in Beijing

On May 21, 2024, the opening ceremony of the 10th China International Senior Services Expo (the 10th CISSE) was successfully held in Beijing. The CISSE was hosted by China Association of Social Welfare and Senior Service (CASWSS), with special support from International Federation on Ageing (IFA), the Embassy of Canada in Beijing, French Embassy in Beijing, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Beijing, Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, China Social Welfare Foundation, China Charity Alliance, Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland and Fudan Institute of Ageing, and organized by Beijing Zhongfu Elderly Culture and Technology Co., Ltd. Zhang Meiying, Vice Chairperson of the 11th National Committee of CPPCC, attended the Expo and declared it open. The opening ceremony was attended by guests from IFA and countries including Australia, Denmark, Russia, France, Finland, Netherlands, Canada, Singapore, Italy and the United Kingdom; leaders of relevant bureaus and departments of Ministry of Civil Affairs and Department of Civil Affairs of 24 provinces and cities including Beijing, Liaoning, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hainan, Yunnan and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regions; and leaders of social organizations under relevant ministries and commissions. The opening ceremony of the Expo was presided over by Wu Yushao, President of CASWSS, and the 10th Forum on the Development of China Senior Service Industry was presided over by Xu Jianzhong, Executive President of CASWSS.

This year's Expo actively responded to the development trend of the silver economy, earnestly implemented the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, fully cooperated with the Party and State's national strategy to actively cope with population ageing and the work of providing basic elderly care to all elderly people, focused on the growing new expectations of elderly care services in the new era and the needs to promote new business forms for elderly service. There were 10 exhibition zones, more than 400 exhibitors from government departments, social organizations and brand enterprises from more than 10 countries; while 10 thematic seminars and relevant activities were held concurrently, to discuss cutting-edge topics on the development of the elderly care industry in the era of the silver economy, and to exchange and share practical experiences and achievements.


At the opening ceremony, Zheng Gongcheng, Vice Chairman of China Democratic League and President of China Social Security Association, Ad van Berlo, Director of International Federation on Ageing, and Guo Hanqiao, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, delivered addresses.

Zheng Gongcheng, Vice Chairman of China Democratic League and President of China Association of Social Security, said in his speech that China has now entered a moderately ageing society, with the growing demand for diversified, differentiated and personalized services from the elderly groups, and the wave of the silver economy has quietly arrived. The Party Central Committee and the State Council are highly concerned about China's population ageing and the development of the silver economy, and have introduced a series of laws, regulations and supporting policies to actively promote the high-quality development of the elderly care service industry, and the development has presented encouraging changes. China International Senior Services Expo has been held for ten consecutive years under the active advocacy and promotion of government departments and the active participation of all social forces, and has become a brand event in the industry with increasing influence, contributing to the high-quality development of China's elderly care service industry.

Ad van Berlo, Director of International Federation on Ageing (IFA), first congratulated the success of the Expo on behalf of the IFA, and said that the 10th CISSE is of special significance in the current context of intensifying population ageing, and that it not only reflects China's great concern for the elderly course, but also marks China's leading position in the global practice of elderly care, and will contribute wisdom to the world's active response to population ageing.

The 10th Forum on the Development of China Senior Service Industry, held concurrently with the Expo, focused on the international and domestic innovative theoretical research and work achievements of elderly service, as well as the theme of promoting the development of the silver economy and exploring the new mode of actively responding to population aging; leaders of government departments and industry management departments from home and abroad actively advise and discuss the promotion of high-quality development of the elderly service industry. The corresponding experience exchange and sharing session focused on the team construction of elderly service professionals and talents, the construction and promotion of elderly service brands, and the topic of elderly finance, in which domestic and foreign experts, scholars and practitioners had in-depth discussions, shared their experiences, and released the process of compiling and researching the first report on the silver economy.

In the main forum, Wu Yushao, President of China Association of Social Welfare and Senior Service and Vice President of Fudan Institute on Ageing, analyzed the important opportunity of "two-wheel drive" for the development of the silver economy in China under the title "The Silver Economy: A Solid and Enduring Pillar of Industry"; Francis Huot, Counsellor for Commercial of the Embassy of Canada, introduced the achievements of Canada in dealing with the population ageing and innovative elderly care services, and products and technologies under the title of "Canadian Healthy Aging Companies, Your Ideal Partner"; Fang Renbiao, Deputy Director General of Zhejiang Civil Affairs Bureau, introduced Zhejiang's innovative measures to realize the "Five Goals of the National Undertaking for the Aged in China", narrow the "Three Major Distinctions", adhere to the "demand-oriented" principle, create a golden business card of "health care for the elderly", and vigorously develop the "silver hair economy" under the title of "Happiness Elderly Care: Innovations and Practices of Elderly Care Services in Zhejiang Province in the Common Prosperity Perspective"; Romain Jacquet, Counsellor for Health, Social Affairs and Labour of French Embassy in China, shared France's experience in preventing the loss of independence and promoting healthy ageing on "Prevention of loss of autonomy related to aging in France"; Chen Yuebin, 2nd-Level Counsel of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, shared the five characteristics of Shanghai's elderly service development under the wave of the silver economy and the "Shanghai Solution" to further adhere to the positioning of inclusive welfare for people's livelihood and promote the integrated care model under the topic of "Shanghai Care Services on the track of silver economy"; Nico Schiettekatte, Counsellor for Health, Welfare and Sport of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, shared the new experiences and new models of the Netherlands in dealing with dementia and elderly care under the title "Defeating Dementia: Joining Hands for Care and Cure"; Lee Hung-lan, Executive Vice President and Chairperson of the Women's Committee of The Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland and Vice Chairperson of the Comprehensive Health Industry Committee, shared Taiwan's successful experience in developing its elderly care industry under "On the discussion of boosting the development of silver economy in the era of aging".

 

During the same period of the Expo, there were activities focusing on the increasingly diversified, differentiated and personalized consumption and service needs of the elderly groups in the silver economy era, the school-enterprise cooperation and matchmaking meeting for elderly service talents, the exchange and sharing meeting for exploring and landing the elderly-friendly renovation of the living environment, the business experience of the elderly care industry, the Senior Well-being - Smart Living Exchange and Sharing Session, and the 2024 Silver Economy High Quality Development Conference and Book Launch of "Silver Economy: Seizing the Golden Opportunity of Brands", on-site legal consultation services and "Ten Years of Building Dreams" - 10th Anniversary Exhibitor Appreciation and other concurrent activities, with domestic and foreign experts and scholars, brand enterprise managers, representatives of colleges and universities, representatives of financial institutions and others actively discussed the new experience and mode of effectively promoting the construction of talent team, elderly-friendly renovation of residential buildings, technology research and development, cultural and tourism services, legal services, as well as financial capital to participate in the silver economy, as well as on-site project negotiation and investment promotion, providing suggestions for the promotion of elderly care services, new forms and paths of the silver economy, improving the welfare of the elderly and expanding the new market for elderly care services.



During this year's Expo, more than 50 mainstream media, including Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, CCTV and so on, have visited and reported on the exhibition site, paying high attention to the innovative development of the exhibition.
